Come with us to explore some of Sardinia’s most beautiful dive sites!

Centro Sub Portorotondo has been setting the standard for diving excellence in Sardinia for the past 23 years. We offer diving courses and guided dives, but specialise in private watersport activities including snorkelling trips and boat excursions to lead you explore our stunning coastline and marine parks.

Our skilled team can also provide personalized diving and snorkelling services tailored to suit your needs.

Our diving center is located in the Porto Rotondo marina, alongside the Yacht Club.
We also run B&B Mare Natura, a typical Sardinian country house strategically located 10km away from Olbia and Porto Rotondo, the perfect starting point to explore our stunning beaches, coastline and hills.

Top dive sites in the Porto Rotondo area

Mortoriotto - our preferred dive spot

The little Mortoriotto rocks (part of the La Maddalena National Park) are our favorite dive site in the area. Dive the outer rock (advanced divers only) and you will see a spectacular drop off covered with red

seafans. The Barracuda dive spot is aptly named for a resident school of these inquisitive fish that are almost always roaming the shore side of Mortoriotto. In the clear summer waters, dark stingrays gather here for their seasonal mating season.

Tuna, turtles, manta rays have been sighted in these waters, a favorite stop-over for all large migrating fish!

secca del Papa, Tavolara - one of the best dive spots in the Mediterranean sea

The Secca del Papa seamount, rising off Tavolara island (Tavolara Marine Protected Area), is considered one of the best spots in the Mediterranean sea. A lush garden of red and yellow seafans is the perfect background for a dive where you will be surrounded by large groupers and lots of other fish, including schools of corb and sea breams, as well as the ever-present pink damselfish.

This seamount is so rich in life that nomadic fish such as jacks and tunas regularly make a stop-over here. Do look for them, casting an eye out in the open sea!

Mamuthone - a relaxing dive with a surprising twist

“Mamuthone” is a traditional Sardinian mask, and its shape is quite distinctively carved in the limestone of Capo Figari. The big boulders that have fallen off the cape, centuries ago, have been colonized by yellow seafans and jewel anemones. Schools of very confident sea breams roam these underwater canyons and keep just a few meters away from divers. All this area is dotted with caverns and caves. We will be exploring one of them, an enormous crack in the

mountain which creates surprising light patterns underwater. This dive is suitable to novice divers as well.

Lavezzi, grouper-land - the best known dive site in the Med

Spend a whole dive in the crystal clear waters of the Lavezzi reef, where a dynasty of Mediterranean groupers have grown together with divers. Nowhere else in the Mediterranean you will get as close to these inquisitive and confident large fish, and other usually shy creatures such as corb and sea breams. After this dive you will be spoilt forever!

Spargiottello - an offshore hang-out for nomadic fish

This offshore reef rises off Spargiottello rock. White, yellow and red sea fans cover these large granite boulders that almost touch the surface. The scenery is majestic, cast against the clearest waters of the Sardinian sea - and don’t forget to look out into the blue as this is a regular stop-over for large nomadic fish such as eagle rays, coming here to mate in the summer season, small and large tuna.

punta Coticcio, Caprera - a specially protected dive site

Punta Coticcio of Caprera island has been officially declared by the La Maddalena National Park a “protected dive site” (a.k.a. “PIP”).

The strictest form of protection ensures this habitat is being preserved from any disturbance caused by fishing, anchoring and diving activities. Only a few divers at a time can enjoy the abundant fish life roaming amidst large boulders that, on the deepest area, are covered in the lushest red seafan garden, and everywhere else with yellow

jewel anemones. Graceful and harmless stingrays can be spotted here, as well as large pelagic fish that make it a regular stop-over in their migrations.
